Telecommunications outages in northern Canada

UPDATE 2 MAY 12TH: Fibre repairs are now complete, and all services are working normally once again across the Northwest Territories. We would like to thank our customers for their patience, our partners for their support, and our team members on the ground for their unwavering dedication.
UPDATE MAY 12TH: Telecommunications services are restored in Yukon and northern BC. Long Distance is restored across the North. Services in the Mackenzie Valley and Beaufort Delta regions of the NWT are working however they are congested. Our work today focuses on repairing more fibre damage in the NWT. Once that work is complete, services in all areas of the NWT should return to working normally.
MAY 11TH: Telecommunication services remain disrupted due to damaged infrastructure caused by wildfires in the NWT and northern BC.
- Internet, Long Distance, Mobility services are disrupted in Yukon, northern BC and the Beaufort Delta and Mackenzie Valley regions of the NWT.
- Long Distance in Nunavut and other satellite communities.
- Internet is intermittent in Yellowknife and the South Slave region of NWT.
We are closely monitoring the active wildfires near critical infrastructure and want to advise the public that conditions can change quickly and services could become impacted.
