Internet

Northwestel Trial Period for TV and internet

New customers with self-identified accessibility needs or who have a person in their household with accessibility needs are eligible to trial Northwestel’s TV and internet service for up to 30 days and cancel the service afterwards if the service does not meet their needs.

 


TV

AMI-TV

AMI-tv is a television network that broadcasts open format described video and closed captioning for Canadians who are blind or partially sighted. It is included in Northwestel programming on channel 972 and is also available online.

 

Closed captioning

Read along with your favourite TV programs, movies and special events. Closed captioning provides visual text of a program’s audio as it is heard.

 

Northwestel disability trial for TV and internet

This trial allows new customers who identify with a disability or have a person in their household with a disability to trial Northwestel’s TV and internet service for up to 30 days and cancel the service afterwards if the service does not meet their needs.

 


Home phone

IP relay

An internet-based text-to-call service. This service allows Northwestel customers who are Deaf/Deaf-Blind, Hard-of-Hearing or Speech Impaired to place and receive text-based calls using the internet.

Message relay TTY

A telephone line text-to-call service.  This service allows people who are Deaf/Deaf-Blind, Hard-of-Hearing or Speech Impaired   to place and receive text-based calls using a phone. The format of calls includes TTY to call, call to TTY and TTY to TTY.

Customers can call directory assistance with TTY or IP Relay assistance at no charge. They are also able to access directory assistance online

Northwestel provides alternate formats for monthly bills, contracts and related documents. Examples of alternate formats include paper-free (email), printed hard copy, braille and large print. Ask us about alternate documents. Contact us
