Northwestel brings fast, unlimited fibre Internet to Pelly Crossing, Carmacks, Ross River and Faro.

September 20th 2023, Whitehorse, YT - Today, Northwestel launched fibre Internet to Pelly Crossing and Carmacks in the Yukon. Ross River and Faro were also upgraded to fibre Internet this August. Now 85% of Yukon’s households have access to fast, unlimited fibre-powered connections.

Residents can order the north’s fastest home Internet, with download speeds up to 500 Mbps and unlimited monthly data. Businesses can also get the new service, with speeds up to 550 Mbps. Customers in these communities also now have access to live and on-demand TV through the all new Northwestel TV Plus, just in time for the return of hockey and football season.

Later this year, Northwestel plans to upgrade 4 more Yukon communities to fibre technology, Tagish, Carcross, Stewart Crossing and Mayo.

“We’re proud to bring the fastest home Internet in the North, with 500 Mbps download speeds, to even more Yukon communities. We are seeing the benefits every day of what stronger connections enable for our rural communities, from distance education opportunities to e-health services.” – Curtis Shaw, President, Northwestel

These fibre upgrades are part of Northwestel's Every Community Project, a 3-year project to bring high speed unlimited Internet to 10,000 homes across the Northwest Territories and Yukon. The improvements are funded by the CRTC Broadband Fund as well as Northwestel's own significant investments.

Northwestel invites community members to visit their Facebook page to enter the Northwestel TV Giveaway. One lucky resident from each community will go home with a 65" Samsung 4K Smart TV, perfect for connecting with TV Plus.

Order the new fibre Internet and Northwestel TV Plus online at www.nwtel.ca. Plus, there is no installation fee when switching from a DSL Internet plan.
