Arviat artist’s captivating artwork wins in Northwestel Nunavut directory cover contest.
March 28th, 2024, Iqaluit, NU – An artist from Arviat has won the 45th Northwestel Nunavut Directory Art Cover Contest. Nooks Lindell’s captivating artwork, titled "Wheeling," beautifully captures the essence of Inuit craftsmanship and celebrates the fusion of tradition and modernity.
Lindell's artwork is a vibrant burst of color, adorned with intricate details that pay homage to Inuit traditions. Wooden racks holding gear, parkas crafted by expert seamstresses, and even a tuktu mount on the front of the ATV showcase the seamless blend of tradition and modernity that Lindell takes pride in.

Lindell will receive a $5,000 prize from Northwestel as the contest winner. With his unique artistic vision, Lindell aims to change the narrative and lead the way through art. He sees contemporary Inuit art as a blend of tradition with "an edge to it," showcasing the rich heritage and creativity of his community.
