911 service comes to the Northern Rockies
More residents in Northern British Columbia can now dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.
Starting January 27, 2021, basic 9-1-1 service is now available in these BC communities:
- Fireside
- Fort Nelson
- Liard River
- Mould Creek
- Muncho Lake
- Prophet River
- Toad River
The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality (NRRM) partnered with Northwestel to deliver the new service.
With basic 9-1-1 service, these residents can contact fire, medical, or RCMP services by dialing one number. Having 9-1-1 access also means visitors to the area can easily reach out for help in an emergency.
In 2019, Northwestel worked with the Government of Northwest Territories to bring 9-1-1 service to all NWT communities. And in 2016, we helped the Yukon Government bring 9-1-1 service to all Yukon communities.
