Get rewarded for upgrading
Northwestel is proud to partner with Yukon Energy to help make energy-efficient home upgrades more affordable. Right now, Yukon residents may be eligible to receive a 75% rebate on the purchase and installation costs of smart thermostats and hot water tank controllers covered through the Government of Yukon when you sign up for Yukon Energy’s Peak Smart program, Eligible smart devices from both Sinopé and Mysa are available at Northwestel retail stores.
Yukon Energy created Peak Smart to shift energy consumption away from periods of peak electricity demand, to improve the reliability of the Yukon’s electricity system when Yukoners need it most.
By participating in Peak Smart, you allow Yukon Energy to make small adjustments to the temperature settings of your home’s participating devices – like your thermostat and hot water tank controller – during Peak Smart events. You’re not likely to notice any change to your comfort, but you always have full override control to re-adjust the settings. With these subtle changes, we can shift energy demand during periods of peak energy usage to avoid the need for additional electricity generation.
Hot water tank controllers are also eligible for this rebate when you sign up for Yukon Energy’s Peak Smart program, giving you even more ways to reduce energy use and save money.
Choose the right fit: Mysa or Sinopé
At Northwestel stores, we carry several smart thermostat products from two brands that are eligible for the rebate:

Check your compatibility
Before purchasing, verify the compatibility of each device with your home's heating system:
For Sinope thermostats: Visit sinopetech.com to use their compatibility checker. Sinope works with most 120V electric heating systems including baseboards, convectors, and radiant ceiling heating.
For Mysa thermostats: Check getmysa.com/compatibility. Mysa offers specific models for electric baseboard, in-wall, and in-floor heating systems. Both manufacturers recommend professional installation if you're not familiar with electrical work.
