Northwestel becomes the new telephone service provider in Atlin.
November 23rd, Whitehorse, YT – Telephone calls made to friends, family and loved ones in Atlin, BC will now travel over Northwestel’s northern network and systems. Northwestel has taken over as the provider of telephone services for the community from previous incumbent, TELUS, to provide local support for residents and businesses. Northwestel is grateful for all the support from Taku River Tlingit First Nation during this transition, and for the community’s warm welcome.

Voice service is just the beginning. Taku River Tlingit First Nation, Northwestel and Bell Mobility are collaborating on funding proposals to bring cellular service and fibre Internet to Atlin in the future.

The Northwestel team hosted a community dinner in Atlin on November 2nd, 2023 to engage with community members about the changes and answer questions. Residential customers in Atlin will pay $26.08/month for their basic phone service. Phone customers must call in to confirm their account details and select their preferences at 1-888-423-2333.
