Northwestel upgrades Dettah to North’s fastest home Internet at 500 Mbps.
December 19th, 2023, Yellowknife, NT - Today, Northwestel connected Dettah to its newly built fibre line that extends to Dettah from Yellowknife along the Ingraham Trail. This upgrade allows the community to receive up to 500 Mbps speeds and unlimited data, just in time to stay in and connect with family and loved ones over the holidays.
Northwestel first launched in-community fibre Internet to Dettah last year which upgraded the community from 15 Mbps to 50 Mbps speeds with the option for unlimited monthly usage. Now, with the full fibre transport powering the community, Dettah can connect to the fastest home Internet in the North, with speeds up to 500 Mbps.
Along with full fibre-to-the-home service comes a new way to watch TV. Dettah residents now have access to the all new Northwestel TV Plus, starting at just $25/month.
“Happy Holidays to the community of Dettah! We’re proud to bring these upgrades to the community, and hope residents enjoy the 10x faster speeds and a great new way watch to watch TV.” - Curtis Shaw, President of Northwestel
These fibre upgrades are part of Northwestel's Every Community Project, a 3-year project to bring high speed unlimited Internet to 10,000 homes across the Northwest Territories and Yukon. The improvements are funded by the CRTC Broadband Fund as well as Northwestel's own significant investments.
