Where to place your modem
The location of your modem affects the Wi-Fi signal and the quality of your internet connection. Here's some tips to help you improve your Wi-Fi signal and connection.
- Place your modem in a central location, as close to the centre of your home as possible where there is an active coax outlet.
- Make sure your modem is out in the open and not blocked by furniture or any other objects.
- Where possible, keep your modem away from things that can block or interfere with the signal. These include the following:
- Appliances like microwave ovens, fridges and freezers
- Electronic devices, including Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, and baby monitors
- Fish tanks
- Behind doors in a TV stand or entertainment centre cabinet
- Garage door openers
- Mirrors
- Heavily insulated walls
- Brick or concrete walls
- Metal doors and objects
