Launching Our Women's Network
We’re celebrating International Women’s Day by launching Our Women’s Network. Northwestel has 500 dedicated individuals spread across all three territories, including 173 strong, determined women, who bring a wealth of skills and perspectives that enrich our ability to unite Northerners through connectivity.
But we know that despite the many advances made for women in tech, there are still many barriers they face. That’s why on this International Women's Day, Northwestel proudly announces the launch of Our Women's Network.
With this new initiative, we publicly commit to our strategy to uplift, support, and honour the remarkable women across our organization. Together, with partners, community initiatives, and our colleagues we will break down barriers, cultivate inclusivity, and create a workplace that leads by example.
Today we proudly stand up to show up and celebrate the power of the women in our network. Because we know when we believe in the power of our people; our potential becomes unlimited.
Our commitments
Support current leaders and future trailblazers
Our focus is to provide more development and mentorship opportunities to advance women within our company into leadership roles. Our representation of senior female leadership is 31% across the company. But we envision a future where our leadership team is at least 50% women to lead the industry.
Cultivate diversity and inclusion through concrete action
We know the importance of having a workforce that reflects the diversity of the customers we serve. We are committed to focusing on intersectionality to deepen our understanding of the diverse experiences and challenges of our colleagues to foster an equitable workplace. We will continue to work to build an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered
Empower engagement and strengthen allyship
To continue to build an inclusive and empowered workforce we will work to ensure everyone is playing an active role. We are committed to providing learning and development opportunities to all our teammates to enrich their understanding of what it means to be an ally. Our team will be equipped to understand how they can take concrete steps to support our female colleagues.
Expand opportunities for women in the field
Our team relies on the skills and knowledge of our technical field teams. That is why we are committed to increasing the number of women in our field positions. This will be completed by fostering environments, new program implementation, and training to support women entering the field.
Our Women's Network
We believe in leading by example and fostering strong connections. This made by women, led by women, for women, employee group is focused on creating safe, empowered spaces for our female staff.
At Northwestel, women are leaders and innovators who actively shape and build every aspect of our business. Our Women’s Network actively supports the development, advancement, and visibility of all women in our company.
Our vision is to empower all women and build strong allies to foster a workplace that is diverse, inclusive, and equitable.
“I am very proud to lead Our Women’s Network. This is the first of its kind at Northwestel, and I know it will help continue to support an inclusive workplace. I look forward to Northwestel leading the way and breaking down barriers so each and every woman on our team is inspired and empowered.

“Our Women’s Network is a fantastic initiative. I know we as male colleagues need to play an active role in supporting women in our industry and be allies. Supporting women in the field of technology and telecommunications is everyone’s job. I’m proud to be part of a team that supports a workplace where no matter your gender, you can succeed."
