Just this past weekend, the Northwestel team connected the Klondike Road Relay for the first time to Wi-Fi at a remote checkpoint at Tutshi Lake along the historic White Pass trail.
Runners and volunteers checked in online with teammates, friends, and family after completing their leg, which has never been possible before, thanks to space-powered Wi-Fi, made available by Northwestel and OneWeb.
While most of the Yukon and Northwest Territories communities are powered with Northwestel’s fast fibre Internet, there are still very remote regions where OneWeb low Earth orbit technology is a viable way to connect even the most inaccessible environments to the Internet.
