How to use Call Display

Call Display lets you see the phone number of the person calling you before you answer the phone.

When you have an incoming call, the caller’s number is displayed on your phone’s display screen after the first ring.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when using Call Display.

Call Display shows the number and not the name

Because of technical limitations, showing the names of incoming callers isn’t available with Call Display.

To see the names of incoming callers, check your phone’s user manual to see if your phone can add and store names and numbers. If your phone supports displaying names and numbers, both the names of numbers of incoming callers that you add to your phone will be displayed.

Call Display doesn’t store the numbers of incoming callers

Call Display doesn’t record the numbers that called your line. Storing numbers is a function of the phone set.

Some numbers might not be displayed

The number of an incoming call might not be displayed if:

  • The caller blocked their number using Call Display Block.
  • The number is unlisted, in which case it may show as Private Number.
  • The call is from a long distance number. In some cases, limitations with the switching equipment in the caller’s community or your community might prevent the number from being displayed.
  • The call is from a service provider that’s not sharing call information with Northwestel.
  • The call is from a business that uses a Centrex line.
