Women in tech

Launching Our Women's Network

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day by launching Our Women’s Network. Northwestel has 500 dedicated individuals spread across all three territories, including 173 strong, determined women, who bring a wealth of skills and perspectives that enrich our ability to unite Northerners through connectivity.

But we know that despite the many advances made for women in tech, there are still many barriers they face. That’s why on this International Women's Day, Northwestel proudly announces the launch of Our Women's Network.

With this new initiative, we publicly commit to our strategy to uplift, support, and honour the remarkable women across our organization. Together, with partners, community initiatives, and our colleagues we will break down barriers, cultivate inclusivity, and create a workplace that leads by example.

Today we proudly stand up to show up and celebrate the power of the women in our network. Because we know when we believe in the power of our people; our potential becomes unlimited.

Our commitments

Support current leaders and future trailblazers

Our focus is to provide more development and mentorship opportunities to advance women within our company into leadership roles. Our representation of senior female leadership is 31% across the company. But we envision a future where our leadership team is at least 50% women to lead the industry.

Expand opportunities for women in the field

Our team relies on the skills and knowledge of our technical field teams. That is why we are committed to increasing the number of women in our field positions. This will be completed by fostering environments, new program implementation, and training to support women entering the field.
