Northwestel brings fast, unlimited fibre Internet to Mayo and Stewart Crossing.

November 2nd, 2023, Whitehorse, YT - Today, Northwestel launched fibre Internet to Mayo and Stewart Crossing in the Yukon, on the traditional territory of the Na-Cho Nyäk Dun First Nation. On top of connecting fibre directly to homes, Northwestel extended its fibre network from Stewart Crossing to Mayo.

Residents can order the north’s fastest home Internet, with download speeds up to 500 Mbps and unlimited monthly data. Businesses can get the new service, with speeds up to 550 Mbps. Customers in these communities now have access to live and on-demand content through the all new Northwestel TV Plus.

By the end of this year, Northwestel plans to upgrade Carcross and Tagish to the new fibre-to-the-home technology and live TV service.

“We’re excited that the very same technology that powers places like downtown Vancouver now powers Mayo and Stewart Crossing. We’re also grateful to the community for hosting our crews as we completed the work needed to bring fast, unlimited fibre Internet to residents.” – Curtis Shaw, President, Northwestel

These fibre upgrades are part of Northwestel's Every Community Project, a 3-year project to bring high speed unlimited Internet to 10,000 homes across the Northwest Territories and Yukon. The improvements are funded by the CRTC Broadband Fund as well as Northwestel's own significant investments.

Northwestel invites community members to visit their Facebook page to enter the Northwestel TV Giveaway. One lucky resident from each community will go home with a 65" LG 4K Smart TV, perfect for connecting with TV Plus.

Order the new fibre Internet and Northwestel TV Plus online at www.nwtel.ca. Plus, there is no installation fee when switching from a DSL Internet plan.
