About parental controls in Plume HomePass

The content access feature (also known as parental controls) of Plume HomePass, lets you restrict content for a person or device. This feature uses a database of known domains to restrict what kinds of websites can be accessed based on the following content filters: 

  • No limits: All types of content can be accessed. 
  • Kid appropriate: Content that’s tagged as not appropriate for kids is filtered and can’t be accessed. 
  • Teenager friendly: Content that’s tagged as not appropriate for teens is filtered and can’t be accessed. 
  • No adult content: Content that’s tagged as adult content can’t be accessed. 

When you set content access restrictions in the Plume HomePass app, you choose one of these content filters to apply to the person or device.  

Set content access restrictions: 

  • For a person: Content filters are applied to people through their profile in the HomePass app. To learn more, see Manage people using profiles in the HomePass app.

  • For a device: In the HomePass app, go to the device that you want, and then open the details screen. Under Content access, choose the setting that you want.  

Keep in mind

  • When you set content access restrictions for a person, the setting applies to all devices that are assigned to that person.  

  • When you set content access restrictions for a device that’s assigned to a person, the setting also applies to that person. If a device isn’t assigned to a person, the setting applies only to the device.

 When someone tries to access a website that’s blocked by the content access feature, they’ll see one of the following messages in their web browser: 

  • Access to this site is blocked 

  • This site can’t be reached 

  • Connection Timed Out
