Pod placement is important. Use these guidelines to help you choose where to set up Pods in your home to maximize coverage and performance.

Note: In addition to Pod placement, the location of your modem affects the Wi-Fi signal and quality of your internet connection. Set up your modem as close to the centre of your home as possible. Ideally, your modem should be in a central, open location. Learn more about where to put your modem.

Set up Pods in central locations towards the centre of your home, along the interior walls rather than the exterior walls. This forms a strong core network for better performance.

  • Where possible, set up Pods so they’re within sight of each other. Doing so can significantly improve their performance when they’re placed further apart.
  • Try placing Pods near hallways or stairs to improve line of sight between them and to route Pod connections if walls and floors limit signal strength.

Position Pods evenly from around your home, in areas where you most often use Wi-Fi. Space them evenly from your modem and from each other to improve overall coverage and signal strength between rooms.

Pods work together as a team and should be close enough to communicate with each other.

  • If Pods are connecting through walls, place them about 10 metres apart.
  • If Pods are in open spaces, place them about 20 metres apart.

See the diagram above for an example of Pod placement and spacing.

  • Set up Pods where they’re visible and not blocked by furniture or other obstructions.
  • Avoid placing Pods behind or too close to appliances, electronic devices, metal objects, reflective objects like mirrors, and other things that can interfere with the Wi-Fi signal. These include refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, fish tanks, heavy metal doors, and energy-efficient windows.
  • If there’s furniture or large metal objects between your Pods, bring your Pods closer together to improve connection strength.
  • Don’t put Pods in bathrooms or outdoors. They’re not waterproof.
