4K channels on Northwestel TV Plus
What is 4K TV?
4K channels and 4K TV means you can get 4 times the resolution than standard HD quality! Also known as Ultra-High-Definition, this is the best technology you can get for the most immersive and crisp TV experience. We are proud to offer 4 new 4K sports channels to bring our customers the most stunning picture quality.
What 4K channels are available on Northwestel TV Plus?
Currently Northwestel offers the following 4K live channels for TV Plus customers subscribed to eligible packages:

TSN 4K channels (535 and 536) and Sportsnet 4K channels (541 and 544) broadcast both:
- Content filmed in 4K resolution (true 4K)
- Content filmed in HD (high definition) upscaled to 4K
When the TSN 4K channel is not broadcasting a 4K program, the guide will show information about the next live event available for broadcast in 4K.
In order to get a true 4K experience, there are a few important things to keep in mind.
- You need to watch it on a 4K or Ultra HD TV.
- You need to subscribe to Fibre Internet 20 plan or higher to have adequate bandwidth.
- If you’re watching through the Northwestel TV Plus app, you need to be using the Amazon Firestick 4K (Currently is not compatible with Apple or Android.)
- No more than 3 devices connected to a 4K channel at one time
Northwestel customers can access 4K content through the following devices:
- Northwestel TV Plus box
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K
Northwestel Tv Plus 4K content is not available on Apple TV devices or Android or iOS mobile devices at this time.
To enjoy 4K channels, you will need to have a 4K television, which can also be labelled UHD, or 4K UHD, depending on the manufacturer. On TV product specifications, resolutions are usually shown as 3840 x 2160 for 4K TVs.
- The 4K sports channels are included with a subscription to any of the following packages:
- TV Plus Essentials
- TV Plus Favorites
- TV Plus Ultra
- TV Plus Popular Sports
- TV Plus Business Essentials
- Business Sports
- The default screen resolution setting on the TV Plus Box is "Auto switch to best resolution"
- If you have previously made changes to or would like to check this setting:
- Go to: Settings --> Device Preferences --> Display --> Screen Resolution
- Ensure the toggle for “Auto switch to best resolution” is set to “on”
