How to use Call Screen

Call Screen lets you screen calls from a list of phone numbers that you specify. When a caller on your call screen list tries to reach you, your phone won’t ring. Instead, the caller is redirected to a pre-recorded message that says:

"We're sorry, the number you have reached is not accepting calls at this time. Thank you and goodbye."

You can add and remove numbers from your Call Screen list at any time. The maximum amount of numbers you can add to your list varies, depending on where you live:

  • Fort Nelson, Inuvik, and Yellowknife: 21 numbers
  • Iqaluit: 32 numbers
  • Whitehorse: 12 numbers

Add a number to your call screen list

  1. Pick up your phone, and then dial *60 to turn on Call Screen.
  2. Follow the prompts to add one or more numbers to your list. You’ll hear options to manually enter numbers or add the last number that called you.

Add a number to your call screen list

Note To screen blocked numbers, long distance numbers, and business or multiline numbers, use the option to add the last number that called you. The number will be added if Call Screen can identify it. For example, if a caller uses Call Display Block to prevent their number from being displayed, you can still add the caller to your list even though you don’t know their number.

Remove a number from your call screen list

  2. Follow the prompts to remove one or more numbers from your list.

Here are a few things to keep in mind while using Call Screen.

Some numbers can’t be screened

Mobile numbers, unknown names and numbers, and some long distance numbers can’t be screened.

Call Screen will validate whether a number can be screened. If a number can’t be added to your list, you’ll hear a message to let you know when you try to add the number.

How Call Screen works with other calling features

  • When a caller on your list uses Call Return to dial your number, the call is screened and redirected to the pre-recorded message.
  • If you subscribe to Call Display, you won’t see the numbers of any callers on your list.
  • If you subscribe to Voicemail, callers on your list can’t leave a message.
  • If you subscribe to Call Waiting and you’re already on the phone, incoming calls from your list are screened and redirected to the pre-recorded message.
  • If you subscribe to Smart Ring, incoming calls from your list are screened, regardless of which number they call you on.
  • When a call is forwarded to a subscriber with Call Screen, the original caller’s number is screened.
